Two goals from Warner Mullen saw holders Loughgall defeat ten-man Annagh United, who had equalised through Jake Keegan, and book their place in the Bob Radcliffe Cup final showpiece against rivals Armagh City.
An even first half saw some great opportunities for both sides to take the lead. Ex-Loughgall striker Scott McCordick missed a fantastic chance after only 30 seconds when the Loughgall defence were caught napping allowing the forward to race through clear however he fired wide.
On four minutes the ball fell kindly for Daniel Ryan inside the Annagh United goalmouth however the forward dragged his effort wide.
McCormick missed another good chance for the Portadown side when he was denied by goalkeeper Gareth Buchanan after a great delivery into the penalty area.
The hosts were reduced to ten men shortly after the interval when Andy Smith was shown two yellow cards in quick succession. And Loughgall took advantage on the hour mark when Warner Mullen curled a beautiful 20 yard free-kick into the top corner past the reach of goalkeeper Marc Robinson.
Annagh levelled in the 72nd minute when substitute Jake Keegan did well to cut inside from the right flank and curl the ball home at the second attempt.
The winner came with just five minute remaining as Mullen latched onto Jamie Rea’s first-time pass before finishing low underneath the body of ‘keeper Robinson for his tenth goal of the season.
